The first season of True Blood originally aired September 7, 2008 and was renewed for a second season which premiered June 14, 2009. The third season premiered on June 13, 2010.
It is based of the best selling series The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris. The first book, Dead Until Dark, was published in 2001. The most recent book, Dead and Gone, was published May 5, 2009.
With the advent of synthetic blood, vampires progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens. Although humans have been removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about vampires “coming out of the coffin.” The series follow the life of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) a telepathic waitress who can hear the thoughts of everyone around her. When she meets Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) she knows that there is something different when she can’t hear his thoughts. When he orders synthetic blood, she knows for sure that this man, is a vampire.
